I have suffered for some time with a recurring pain in my lower back. I always thought it was related to my posture; the way I say on my chair at work, but there were times when it was really painful and meant that I was really restricted in what I could do when I was not at work. A couple of times I was not even able to make it out of bed. I was pretty miserable, I can tell you.

That was all in the past now, of course, and the reason for that is that I found a really great heating pad that was soft, flexible and one that unlike many other heating pads on the market these days could easily be placed nice and close to the painful area, and best of all it had neat Velcro straps that meant it was easy to make sure that the heating part of the pad was nice and tightly in place. Since using this wonderful pad I have found that I no longer suffer from anywhere near the same degree of discomfort and my everyday life has pretty much returned to normal. I haven’t even had to do anything to my sitting posture at work although I am conscious that this may be something I have to address in the future.

The Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad – Top Quality – Great Price

I bet you are wanting to know what the particular heating pad that helped me was. Well, it was actually a very popular model. Sunbeam heating pads are some of the bestselling heating pads on the market and I have heard nothing but good things about them, whoever is telling me. But this particular heating pad was called the Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad. It has 5 heat settings, which I really liked as it meant I was able to raise the temperature bit by bit until it was particularly comfortable for me. It also has an auto-shut off feature after 2 hours which I actually thought was really important as it meant that there was no real danger from me falling asleep and risking a fire with the heating pad being left on too long.

But perhaps the best thing of all about this heating pad was the price I paid for it. I did quite a bit of shopping around and I believe that the price I got for the Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad was the best on the market by some distance. You can find where I purchased my heating pad by clicking here!

What is a wheat heat pad and how come you need one? Well, maybe you don’t and let’s hope you won’t!

Chances are though, at some point, you or someone in your family will experience muscular pain or discomfort in your joints. Here is where the wheat heat pad comes in. Applying heat often helps improve circulation and provide relief from aches and pains. Add some moisture and you have a winner. The use of wheat is to retain moisture without having any water leaks.

Heat pads for back pain relief are popular for the reasons stated above. The process is a simple one. The heat pads are normally made from cotton or similar natural material that is safe for use in the microwave. The wheat in the bag or pad, is placed, as you might have guessed by now, in the microwave. Heat it up to the desired temperature and you have portable pain relief for 30 – 45 minutes and because of the natural water retention, the heat pad provides moisture to the affected area for additional relief.

Migraines, ear ache, stomach pain – the list of ailments that can be treated with wheat heat pads is long.

The material covering the wheat tends to be fairly thick so as to shield the user from any hotspots or overheated wheat. Last thing you want is to add burns to your list of injuries.

There is obviously a limit on how big these items can be as they need to fit into an average sized microwave.

Some contain aromatherapy oils, which are activated when heated.

The major advantage to heat pads for back pain or other maladies, is that it is a drug free alternative. Those suffering from back pain or conditions stemming from arthritis seek natural solutions so as to avoid the side effects of long term medication.

No pain? Then combat the cold. Some use it as an alternative to an electric blanket when sleeping which is certainly safer and others use it to keep them warm in the office on a cold day. This is a far more economical alternative to heating an open plan office or a room with no doors.

Wheat heat pads are occasionally also used as cold packs. They can be placed in the freezer and then used pretty much in the same way as when hot, for pain relief.

<script type="text/javascript"

Heating pads and heat therapy in general is used for things like pain, muscle strains, swelling and joint stiffness. Moist heating pads are often more effective than dry heating pads. The moist heat has more of an effect on soft tissue, muscle and joints. A moist heating pad will retain a constant temperature over the whole time you have it on while things like hot packs or wraps that you heat in the microwave will get cooler the longer you have them on.

Moist heating pads are best used to help loosen tight muscles and joints. They are very effective for arthritis suffers. Moist heating pads for back pain are also very effective. Most if not all of these type of heating pads require no water and get warm automatically when plugged in. They work by drawing in the humidity from the air and catching it in the packs flannel cover. The rise in temperature from within the pack makes the flannel covers moisture seep out and onto the affected area.

So just how does this moist heat help your pain? The heated areas have blood vessels dilate which cause perfusion (increased flow of oxygen and nutrients) to the tissue, which in turn relaxes muscles, relieves pain and helps the area to heal. Keep in mind though that most moist heating pads register up to 180 degrees. They can be dangerous and cause serious burns if left on too long or unattended.

Moist heat pad are convenient. They come in many sizes also so you can buy the proper size for the area of your body you are treating. Special flannel covers that retain moisture come with all of them. There are some available in a hand muff style, which is especially good for patients with arthritis of the hands. Make sure you choose a reputable manufacturer and make sure your moist heat pad comes with a cover that can be removed and washed.

As we have said the most common uses for moist heating pads are to relieve pain, be it arthritis, muscle strain etc. Some other uses for your moist heating pad are a little less common though. They are great for older people who suffer from chills, or even a younger one who likes the bedroom warmer than their partner does. A small heating pad placed in the bed (not on your body) and left in place makes for a very toasty sleeping experience.

Dermatologists often tell their patients with acne to use heat on their face so it will heal faster. Small moist heating pads can be applied when you are relaxing. Just do not forget that these pads get very hot so check your skin often your do not want a burn. Having said that, many prefer a moist heating pad over and electric heating pad, especially when using them in bed due to the perceived risk associated with falling asleep while using an electrical device.

So as you can see a good quality moist heating pad will last for years, help you relieve pain (in many areas and from many sources), reduce swelling and do a few other neat things you may not have thought of. They come in an assortment of sizes, are reasonably priced and are really worth the investment.

Using heat pads for back pain is one of the most popular remedies used these days. Heat treatment is recommended by most medical professionals as it benefits both the long term back pain sufferer and those in need of more immediate pain relief.

Heat Pads For Back Pain Relief

There are many different ways, most of them household remedies, of applying heat to your back, but probably the most effective and consistent method of heat treatment is using heating pads. Heating pads have the benefit of being able to apply the right temperature consistently across the affected area. Heating pads are also a good way to apply moist heat which sufferers will attest seems to penetrate further into the affected area than dry heat, with the effect of achieving greater pain relief. The heat applied penetrates the muscles and joints around the affected area, assisting relaxation and allowing the sufferer to stretch without pain and reduce stiffness.

Poor posture is probably the principal cause of back pain. Sitting in a poor positions, or having to spend long periods in a particular position can create the circumstances for back pain to be experienced. Whatever the cause back pain whether it is acute or chronic can be debilitating and prevent someone from leading any sort of active life.

Being able to treat the symptoms of back pain with something as simple as heating pads is actually a significant bonus and should not be overlooked, or neglected. Regular treatment with heating pads followed by simple stretching exercises may also be useful as a preventative measure and help the body avoid pain in the future.

There are many varieties of heating pads and some have different characteristics. Using heat pads for back pain is best if the heat is moist and the following products produce the most effective types of moist heat.

Heat Pads Are Very Good For Back Pain

Microwaveable heating pads

These heating pads are usually made from natural products, essentially corn, or wheat contained within a canvas bag. The bag is heated in the microwave and corn or wheat retains the heat for an extended period of time. These tend to be moist heating pads and are relatively small, light and easily positioned so that the heat can be applied directly to the affected area.

Electric heating pads

Electric heating pads do produce a moist heat effect. They do this by drawing moisture from the air and condensing it on the affected surface. Obviously electric heating pads are powered by household electricity and are therefore less portable than other types of heating pad.

Heat Pads For Back Pain Is An Established Therapy

Heat therapy has long been used as a method of treating pain, especially back pain. Heat pads for back pain have been the most effective method of applying heat. They are cheap, portable and easy to use and most households should keep a couple of heating pads just in case they are needed.
